Antique, serial number #6. This offering is for the pictured Merrimack Arms & Manufacturing Company Single Shot Derringer Pistol. In very good looking condition and manufactured at the Newburyport Mass location from 1867-1869 as a commercial pocket pistol.
6500 pieces were made with this style logo and then another 10,000 made after 1969 by the successor Brown Manufacturing Co.
Unique #6 serial number, we purchased this just a few miles from the former factory location, 155 years after being made. It is quite nice.
Single shot 2.5 inch octagon barrel that side pivots for loafing. Gunmetal gray finish with nice factory engraving on the side and stamped "Southerner" on the barrel top, post Civil War marketing. Traces of case coloring on the hammer and spur trigger. Tight action with a good ejector appears mechanically fine.
Chambered in .41 rimfire, the bore has good rifling but dark and frosted overall.
Makes a fine pistol for the collector.
Antique firearm terms apply, ships directly to an adult in most locations, copy of drivers license of FFL for proof of age. State restrictions may apply. no direct shipments to CA, NY or NJ.
