Serial #28332 This offering is for the pictured French 'Populaire" School Carbine. In good looking condition, this is one of several variations of training rifles used in French Schools to teach youths the art of shooting

School shooting instruction was commenced in 1894 By the Ministry of Public Instruction. This carbine likely dated from the 1910's-1920's and is maker marked from Manufacture Francaise D'Armes Et Cycles De Saint Etienne.

Single shot bolt action with a 25 inch barrel. Blued finish shows average wear and patina, brite bolt is correctly turned down and has a mild patina. The front band and cleaning rod are incorrect but look ok. Extract is a replacement and only works ok.

Sound hard wood stock with a steel butt plate, typical small dings and scuffs.

Chambered in 6mm Bosquette or 6mm Flobert, the bore is brite with very good rifling, slight frost. Not Import marked.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
