Serial #4473 This offering is for the pictured Enfield No1 .410 Gauge Shotgun. In good looking condition used condition A British military rifle that was refurbished in India and remarked from GRI in 1942 and converted/refurbished again to .410 gauge shot gun in 1948 at the RFI, Rifle Factory Ishapore.
Used for conscript or prison guard use.
Matching serial numbers receiver, bolt, forend and nosepiece. Metal finish is a mix of blued, parkerized and black paint finish with wear to the sharp edges.
Single shot bolt action with a wooden blocked magazine well and fixed tin follower. Correctly the rear sight is pinned for short range adjustment button removed. Mechanically appears fine.
Sound wood stock set with typical small dings and scuffs from use and long storage, few arsenal repair slices.
Chambered in .410 gauge shot gun (proprietary and not the modern .410 sporting) the bore is brite, smooth and excellent.
The single shot was designed for use as a "Guard Gun" for police or prison riot use. If captured by an inmate or un-loyal guard, they could not get far with a single shot of .410.
Makes a fine firearm for the military collector.
