early Japanese Arisaka Type 99 'Cavalry Rifle". A good honest WW2 example that is complete with original cleaning rod, anti aircraft rear sight and royal chrysanthemum intact. Maker marked from the Nagoya Arsenal this is an early "no series" production that has the rounded front sight protector and enlarged rear sling swivel for the  "cavalry hook clasp sling" the stock and handguard have original worn finish with dings and dents from military use, sling clasp wear at the rear swivel as is correcr for cavalry use. Metal is thinning blue with wear, serial numbers match on all but the dust cover. Chambered in 7.7 Japanese the chrome lined bore is brite with near excellent rifling. Reference to the "Cavalry Rifle" is from  Honeycotts book and is believe that the inital offering of Type 99's went to these mounted troops.
