Magazine Lee Enfield Mk1* Rifle. In nice looking condition, and maker marked from Enfield Arsenals with a 1896 wrist date. This appears to be the shortened Rifle Club Pattern (Australian) with the 25.2 inch barrel as noted in Skinnertons book the Lee Enfield page 458. Modified in Australia to be slightly shortened for rifle club competition use.

Sound hardwood stock and hand guard, Enfield cartouche present on the butt, few small dings and compression's, small grain crack or scratch on the receivers left side, stamped on the buttplate for New Zealand military service.

Metal is blued with magazine and band turning a patina. Serial numbers no longer match. This includes the metal dust cover and has the volley sights still in place. Stamped atop the receiver as sold out of military service. 10 round magazine linked to the trigger guard. Magazine cut off is present but difficult to move, remainder seem mechanically fine.

Chambered in 303 British the bore has very good rifling with darker frosted grooves.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
