Item #1839 This offering is for the pictured vintage German WW2 era MG 13 Magazine lot and Storage Box. In good looking condition, 7  25 round magazines(1 is missing) and the green painted steel box. Made to hold 8mm Mauser ammunition.

The MG 13 was a German general purpose machine gun obtained by rebuilding a World War I water-cooled machine gun, the little-known Dreyse 1918, into an air-cooled version.

Introduced into service in 1930, where it served as the standard light machine gun untill superseded by cheaper, faster firing MG 34 and later the MG 42. It was officially withdrawn from service in 1934 and sold off to Portugal, where they were used into the late 1940s.

The MG 13 was designed to work with either a 25-round box magazine or a 75 round saddle drum. It was equipped with a folding butt stock and a carrying handle.and used in the tail gunner's position in the Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber and in the turret of the panzer tank.

Makes a fine item for the military collector.
