Antique. LTC Stock number #A235 This offering is for the pictured vintage US Model 1842 Percussion Pistol. In good looking condition for 160+ years old and maker marked from I N Johnson of Middleton Conn.. The principal US military pistol of the day and the 1st mass produce percussion fired. Near 10,000 from this maker.


Dated 1849 on the tang and 1855 on the lock plate. Metal finish is brite with patina peppering on most areas, correct brass band, sight and grip tangs. Well marked lock plate as pictured. Good full and half cock and release, mechanically appears fine.


Hardwood grip is sound with few dings and scuffs. This has a neat integral ram rod for the 8.5 inch barrel. Chambered in .54 caliber, smooth bore is reasonably brite.


Makes a fine item for the military collector.
