Item #4057 This offering is for the pictured US Navy 3 inch/50 Steel Cannon Casing. In good looking used condition.
Cold war era item for the standard 3 inch guns found on US Navy vessels since before WW2. Shown on the headstamp as the Mk 9 meaning "steel case".
23 inches in length with stains and minor rust spots on the exterior, rust on the interior.
For use in the 3″/50 caliber gun (spoken "three-inch-fifty-caliber") in United States naval gun terminology indicates the gun fired a projectile 3 inches (76mm) in diameter, and the barrel was 50 calibers long (barrel length is 3in × 50 = 150in or 3.8m). Different guns (identified by Mark numbers) of this caliber were used by the US Navy.
