Item #4610 This offering is for the pictured lot of 7x49mm Liviano FAL Ammunition. 150 loose rounds. Maker marked from FN Fabrique Nationale Belgium on military contract to Venezuela for use in their FN FAL rifles.
An experimental caliber, the 7x49 medium length cartridge was developed after WW2 by the Belgians, British and Canadians in an effort to have a light weight (assault rifle) round. Variations of this cartridge were experimented with but never accepted by NATO and the 7.62x51 eventually won out.
Venezuela was the only country to use this round, 5000 rifles ordered in the caliber and in time they too converted to 7.62 x 51 NATO.
These cartridges look clean form a quality maker for display or components.
Makes a fine lot for the military collector.
