French MAS 49 Rifle. In good looking condition and a bit uncommon as only 20,000+/- were produced for military service (compare to the 49/56 with 275,000 production). The result of 30 years of auto loading research and issued among the Army, Navy, Sniper and light Grenadiers. Features the integral grenade launcher sight with no provision for bayonet.

Sound stock set, similar in feel to the Mas 36, even colored wood, the butt appears sanded smooth and the forend original rougher with small dings present. Metal finish is parkerized with wear on the sharp edges and a few spots of painta/rust on the receivers right side. Matching serial numbers, receiver and action cover, these are the only number visible.

Receiver is factory grooved on the left to accept a scope mount. Has 1 10 round detachable magazine. Chambered in 7.5 French the bore has good+ mostly, brite with smooth lands and grooves. Features the excellent adjustable rear aperture sight and is capable of fine accuracy. Not import marked.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
