Antique. LTC Stock number #A358 This offering is for the pictured vintage US Model 1842 Percussion Pistol. In good looking condition for 167 years old and maker marked from H Aston Middletown Conn in 1849.  The principal US military pistol of the day and the 1st mass produce percussion fired. Near 24,000 from this maker.

Mechanically fine and overall shows years of use. Metal finish is brite with patina peppering in areas. Brass band, sight and grip tangs. Well marked lock plate as pictured. Hardwood grip is sound with faint trace of inspectors cartuche on the left side. This has a neat integral ram rod for the 8.5 inch smooth bore barrel.  Muzzle has slight battering on the front. Chambered in .54 caliber.
 
 Makes a fine item for the military collector.
